Mastering Korean Vocabulary: Dates and Time

1. Dates:

      (nyeon) - year

      (wol) - month

      (il)- day

    오늘 (oneul) - today

    어제 (eoje) - yesterday

    내일 (naeil) - tomorrow

    요일 (yoil) - day of the week

     (ju) - week

 

Example Sentence:

   오늘은 월이에요?

   (Oneuleun myeot woli-e-yo?)

    What month is it today?

 

2. Time:

     시간 (sigan) - time

      (si) - hour

     (bun) - minute

     (cho) - second

    오전 (ojeon) - a.m.

    오후 (ohu) - p.m.

 

Example Sentence:

   지금 시예요?

(Jigeum myeot si-ye-yo?)

  What time is it now?

 

3. Expressing Time:

     ? (myeot si?) - What time is it?

    시간 (han sigan) - one hour

   이십 (isip bun) - twenty minutes

   오후 (ohu se si ban) - 3:30 p.m.

   오전 열두 (ojeon yeoldu si) - 10:00 a.m.

   (bam) - night

 

Example Sentence:

   일요일에는 저녁이 언제에요?

   (Ilyoile-neun jeonyeogi eonje-e-yo?)

  When is dinner on Sunday?

 

4. Days of the Week:

    월요일 (wol-yoil)- Monday

    화요일 (hwa-yoil)- Tuesday

    수요일 (su-yoil)- Wednesday

   목요일 (mog-yoil) - Thursday

   금요일 (geum-yoil) - Friday

   토요일 (to-yoil) - Saturday

   일요일 (il-yoil) - Sunday

 

Example Sentence:

    목요일에는 학교에 가요.

    (Mogyoile-neun hakgyoe gayo.)

    I go to school on Thursdays.

 

5. Months:

    1 (il-wol) - January

    2 (i-wol) - February

   3 (sam-wol) - March

   4 (sa-wol) - April

   5 (o-wol) - May

   6 (yu-wol) - June

   7 (chil-wol) - July

  8 (pal-wol) - August

  9 (gu-wol) - September

   10 (sip-wol) - October

   11 (sip-il-wol) - November

  12 (sip-i-wol) - December

 

Example Sentence:

   생일은 칠월입니다.

    (Nae saengileun chilwol-imnida.)

    My birthday is in July.
